Bush Rangers face Central Stags in T20 Champions League
Victorian Bushrangers are the stronger of the two teams, at least on paper, but would be looking to shed their rusty form which perhaps cost them the game against the Warriors. Both the bowling and batting departments need to put up improved performances if the Bushrangers are to win against the Stags. Expect Dirk Nannes and Shane Harwood to look like a different lot of bowlers than they did in the opening game. Rob Quiney, Brad Hodge and Matthew Wade will look to give a better account of their batting reputations.
Central Stags didn’t do all that badly with the ball in the game against CSK. In fact many feel that keeping a Chennai side that boasts names like Matthew Hayden, Suresh Raina, MS Dhoni, M Vijay and S Badrinath down to a score of 151 highlights the quality of their pace attack. Yet, if the Stags are to have any real chance of beating the Bushrangers, it is their batsmen, who only put up a total of 94 runs in the game against CSK, who will have to fire.
Key players
Rob Quiney, the Bushrangers’ left-handed opener, had an ordinary game against the Warriors, having found himself back in the pavilion with only a solitary run against his name. Quiney will look to correct that in the match against the Stags.
Doug Bracewell was the standout performer with bat and ball for the Stags against CSK. His 2 for 28 and knock of 30 runs gave the Stags an all-round performer they required desperately in the absence of Jacob Oram. Bracewell will have his task cut out for him as the Victorian side’s pace attack is better than that of CSK as is their handling of fast bowling vis-à-vis the team from Chennai . Nevertheless, expect Bracewell to come good when the going gets tough.
What Next
Playing in a group where the Warriors have already won two games, and a strong Chennai outfit looking like the team to beat, a loss tomorrow for either side will make the route to a semi-final appearance virtually impossible or a function of net run rates. So sit back and anticipate in a high octane encounter with some superlative ground fielding which is the hallmark of Trans-Tasmanian cricket.

Wayamba innings (20 overs maximum) | R | B | 4s | 6s | SR
DPMD Jayawardene | c Kreusch b Theron | 0 | 2 | 0 | 0 | 0.00
0.2 Got em! Rusty has picked a huge wicket early, Jayawardene is gone! Another away swinger coming from that nagging angle, wide of the crease, Mahela throws his bat at it, but the away movement does him in. The thick edge flies into the slip cordon and it is snaffled by Kreusch at second slip. Well done! 0/1
HGJM Kulatunga | c Kreusch b Tsotsobe | 59 | 44 | 6 | 3 | 134.09
14.1 aaaand gone! Tsosobe landed that on a length outside off and Kulatunga tried to do what he has been doing all day - looks to loft it straight, but for a change, it misses the middle and hits low down on the bat. He ends up spooning it straight up and Kreusch settles down under it. Important wicket. 110/4
ML Udawatte | c Boje b Theron | 2 | 4 | 0 | 0 | 50.00
0.6 another one bites the dust! Theron has removed two in his opening over and Wayamba are reeling here! Short ball, but not short enough to pull, Udawatte decides to take the challenge, but it was quicker on him and gets a top edge as his top hand comes off. As ungainly as they come! It balloons easily towards mid on, where the fielder tumbles across to take a good catch 2/2
J Mubarak* | c Prince b Boje | 9 | 16 | 1 | 0 | 56.25
8.2 Eid Mubarak to Jehan Mubarak, but the party is over! Tossed up on off stump, he pranced out of his crease and looked to loft it over long off, but he got too close to it and hence could not get the elevation. Straight into long off's lap 50/3
MDKJ Perera† | c Prince b Theron | 39 | 24 | 1 | 3 | 162.50
16.3 Gone! The frustration gets to Perera, who has not been given much to drive.. He backs away to the leg side this time, to make some room, but this one was short and outside off.. He went for the lofted drive, but could not clear long off. The canny Theron strikes again. 126/5
KS Lokuarachchi | c Boje b Botha | 14 | 11 | 0 | 1 | 127.27
17.1 Another one bites the dust, Loku is gone looking to smash one straight.. He is down the track and Botha smartly pulls the length back and Loku can't get into any position. Still goes through with th4e shot and offers a dolly to short cover 133/6
NLTC Perera | c Botha b Ntini | 11 | 8 | 1 | 1 | 137.50
19.1 WHOA! As I collect my breath, let me describe what happened there: It was a length ball on middle and leg, Thisara got under it and hoisted it high and it seemed headed for the long on stands.. Boucher behind the stands had his hand out to protect his eyes from the sun as he sought to trace the path of that ball... and somehow, Botha at long off, on the edge of the playing area, hauled it in. Thisara is distraught, and Ntini breaks into a smile! 144/7
MF Maharoof | c Tsotsobe b Ntini | 5 | 7 | 0 | 0 | 71.42
19.2 two in two, again holes out in the deep! Length ball on middle and leg, Maharoof looks to send this into another planet, but gravity brings it back down to the lap of deepmidwicket. Can he get a hat-trick? 144/8
HMRKB Herath | run out (Botha/†Boucher) | 8 | 3 | 0 | 1 | 266.66
19.6 from Ntini, and a run-out to finish, bizarre I must say. Herath stayed in the crease and swung it to deep wicket, picked a single, and then seemed to take for ever to turn back and go for the second.. Seemed like a relay race where he was waiting for his partner to come over and pass on the baton. The throw was smartly sent to the striker's end and Boucher removed the bails before Herath could dive in. 153/9
BAW Mendis | not out | 1 | 1 | 0 | 0 | 100.00

PRINCELY TOUCH by Prince of Kolkatha
The Chennai Super Kings have been one of the most consistent sides of the IPL. They reached the finals in the first year, were there in the semi-finals of the second year and ultimately became the champions in the third year - all this bears testimony to their consistent performance in this shortened format.
They will definitely be strong candidates in CLT20 in South Africa. At one stage in IPL 2010, CSK were down and out, but they made a grand comeback at the end to not only qualify for the semis, but also win the tournament.
Their turnaround in the third IPL had a lot to do with the success of the spinners. One will have to wait and see how Ravichandran Ashwin, Jakati, Murali and other spinners will fare for CSK in completely different conditions in South Africa.
The Australian trio of Hayden, Hussey and Bollinger will be very important for Dhoni’s team in this tournament. Bollinger’s inclusion happened in the latter half of the IPL last year, and that made a huge difference to the CSK team - he will again be an important factor for his team on those fresh South African wickets.
Taking early wickets will be crucial, and Bollinger along with Morkel and the Indian seamers will have to take the responsibility for getting the breakthroughs.
CSK boasts of a strong batting line up. Raina will be very important for the team as he is a very competent T-20 player and has been in very good form of late. If Raina bats at No. 3, it will be a good test of his batting skills against the new ball, as he will be playing the Test series scheduled in South Africa later this year.

Chennai Super Kings face Central Stags 3rd match in Airtel Champions League
It’s the battle of the champions as IPL winners Chennai Super Kings take on HRV Cup title holders Central Stags.
Saturday, September 11, 2010. The game begins at 5.30 pm, SAST. Sahara Stadium Kingsmead, Durban
About the teams
The Chennai Super Kings are one of the big name teams in CLT20 2010. With stars like Doug Bollinger, Suresh Raina and Matthew Hayden at their disposal, MS Dhoni will be all set to deliver a power-packed performance against the Stags in their CLT20 opener.
The Central Stags on the other hand are depleted by the absence of their power players Jacob Oram, Ross Taylor and Graham Napier. But just like the Kiwi national team, the Stags will be quietly confident of their ability and look to topple the applecart against the Super Kings.
Key players
Well begun is half the job done and CSK will be relying on the sheer class and quality that opener Matthew Hayden brings right at the top of the batting order. The veteran Aussie is no stranger to South African conditions and his domineering style of play always manages to intimidate even the best of bowlers. The southpaw is in decent form too after scoring 53 retd. in a warm-up match against the Dolphins.
The Central Stags have a real uphill task on their hands against the Super Kings, but the Stags have their own talisman to turn to. Peter Ingram is a class performer and will probably dictate the Kiwi side’s fortunes in CLT20 2010. And his prodigious talent was amply displayed during their warm-up match against RCB where the right-hander scored 63, albeit in a losing cause.
With group A as tough as nails, neither team would like to fall behind on their semi-final hopes. A loss would mean the next game becomes a must-win situation and both CSK and Central Stags wouldn’t like to be in that position of insecurity after just one match.
